M2M
Overview

Here are a few examples of typical M2M applications :

  • Container Tracking
  • Road Tolling
  • Traffic Management.

These devices are characterised by low cost, limited capability; embedded devices.

TES has extensive experience of design and integration of M2M platforms and software, with tens of thousands of units in field applications

Thin Client
Overview

Thin client devices provide solutions in the following areas :

  • Managed Devices
  • Multiple Applications
  • Complex Interfaces [Vehicle bus, sensors]
  • Multiple Wireless layers [GPRS, DSRC]

Thin clients are normally highly integrated platforms, capable of supporting real-time OS features and internet [TCP/IP] communication layers.

TES is currently engaged in a major development in this area.

Multimedia
Overview

Layered on both thin client and M2M platforms, multimedia offers the added value of complex user interfaces (graphical or audio), combined with an appropriate level of device flexibility.

  • Managed Devices
  • Multiple Applications
  • Complex UI
  • Mobile Environments

TES has an extensive range of multimedia IP, detailed in our Technology pages.

CDM/RP-DVTM

CDM Reference Platform for DaVinci based Telematics applications.

Overview

TES family of CDM reference platforms is designed to be time-to-market accelerators for your specific product. Each platform is designed to bring technology and implementation advantage both in hardware and in software.

CDM/RP DVTM is based on TI’s new line of highly integrated TMS320DM6443 DaVinci™ processor and serves as a reference design for Telematics platforms.

The CDM/RP DVTM provides TES CDM customers with access to a wide and flexible set of telematics features. The combination of the dual core DaVinci processor, GPS and wireless communications, and a flexible and configurable I/O structure provides the base for low-cost to high-end telematics products. The FPGA (Altera Cyclone II) on CDM/RP DVTM, which is connected to the DaVinci by the high speed VLYNQ interface, allows developers to integrate IP blocks available from TES or other suppliers. Advanced hardware features of the CDM/RP DVTM architecture combined with reference software features enable high value application solutions. The CDM/RP DVTM has 3 PCM MIP compliant I/O slots which allow rapid integration of additional functions (eg CAN bus, Video, or short-range wireless) for prototyping or proof-of-concept.

Next-Generation features such as vehicle crash detection can also be developed using the CDM/RP DVTM by adding solid state gyros and accelerometers in your custom design. Basic telematics requirements of power management, battery backup, security and robust design are included in the CDM/RP-DVTM reference design. Software support for multiple OS variants capable of thin-client operations and multimedia capability are provided as standard with the CDM/RP DVTM. Also included are TES Embedded Graphics IP for high-quality navigation or other graphics applications. Audio input channels enable applications requiring speech recognition capability.

APPLICATIONS

The CDM/RP-DVTM can therefore be used as a design basis to build numerous applications:

  • Fleet Management
  • Navigation Applications and remote HMI
  • Infotainment solutions
  • Vehicle audio control
  • On Board Unit (OBU) support – Road Tolling Applications
  • DTCO support (Tachograph Interface)
  • General vehicle/cabin control (HVAC)
